Descartes Systems Group announced that Cathay Cargo used Descartes' Bluetooth® Low Energy air cargo tracking solution to monitor the condition and location of Giant Pandas An An and Ke Ke during their transport from Chengdu, China to Hong Kong on September 26, 2024. The solution, part of Cathay Cargo's Ultra Track service, provides real-time shipment visibility for high-value goods across 29 airports in Cathay's network.

The Descartes solution uses Bluetooth® Low Energy tags on Unit Load Devices or pallets, with data captured by readers in Descartes' global Internet of Things (IoT) network. It tracks location and conditions such as temperature, movement, shock, light, and humidity for air and ground shipments, helping airlines and ground handling agents offer end-to-end visibility to customers.
