At the end of October, Express Service OOD delivered two ES3000 battery locomotives to the “Nadezhda” rail depot. Delivery and staff training proceeded smoothly without any complications. Representatives of Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) showed strong interest and readiness to adopt this new technology.
The “Poduyane” depot has successfully operated the ES3000 battery locomotive for four months. Employees are satisfied with the locomotive and carefully maintain it to ensure high productivity. To date, one-third of the contract with the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, funded by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, has been completed.
Express Service OOD plans its next delivery of ES3000 locomotives at the beginning of 2025. Two new locomotives will be sent to the “Gorna Oryahovitsa” depot, strengthening the company’s position in the region. With the new locomotives arriving in Sofia, the city’s total number of battery-powered machines will reach five, making it the leading city for battery locomotive count.
